WEST COAST SWING

Originating in California, West Coast Swing is a smoother, slot-based swing dance that evolved from Lindy Hop and adapted to modern blues, R&B, and pop music.

What you'll learn in this class:

Frame

Elastic and flexible, with subtle tone changes to enable improvisation

Footwork

Learn to anchor steps to ground the dance, and rolling counts support syncopation and styling

Connection

Push/pull (compression and stretch) are fundamental; delayed weight transfers are common

Slight forward pitch, knees soft, spine long to allow elasticity and grounded turns
